Obviously, if you are filing for bankruptcy, your spending habits need to be reevaluated.  With that in mind, there are certain categories you need to cut off completely or reduce tremendously.  For one, the small daily $3 lattes add up.  Unnecessary spending provides no real benefit or enjoyment and over the years adds up enormously.  Furthermore, cut back on the extravagance.  It is not necessary to spend $100 for dinner or $50 for drinks a night.  If a night on the town costs you a day of work, you may think twice about the return on your investment.

Simplify your life.  People tend to shop impulsively and buy things they don’t need and rarely every use.  Cutting back on the price of gifts is also important because people tend to spend more lavishly on gifts for others than they would ever buy for themselves.  Also, if you have a killer car payment, it may be wise to sell it and purchase one for less and one that is more reliable.  All these adjustments do not necessarily mean that your huge debt could be relieved, but it will certainly help and prevent further debt.
