When you owe less than $250,000, getting the IRS to accept a payment proposal is pretty easy.  An installment agreement requires that you make all payments on time, file all future tax returns and pay the taxes due on those returns in full, furnish updated financial information whenever requested, and agree that any state or federal refunds be applied to your unpaid taxes.  If your file is still with the Service Center, you can use Form 9465 Installment Agreement Request.  The IRS normally responds within 30 days.  Your offer is likely to be accepted if the payment you propose takes care of your total tax debt, including interest and penalties that continue to accrue within 36 months.  If, on the other hand, your file has been transferred to ACS or your local district office, you need to tell the collector that you want to make an installment agreement and indicate how much you can afford to pay.  If your offer is rejected, you must get professional help, so call a bankruptcy lawyer in Carmichael.

If you are having financial hardship and are considering filling for bankruptcy, please call bankruptcy lawyer in Carmichael at our office at (916) 971-8880 for a FREE confidential bankruptcy consultation.
