You don’t need to file bankruptcy just to solve a trivial financial problem.  There are a number of things you may want to consider before resulting in bankruptcy.  If you can get your financial house in order through discipline and careful budgeting, do it.  The key to realistic budgeting is establishing a reasonable timeframe for immediate and long-term goals and adopting a positive attitude that focuses not on what you’re giving up but rather on what you’re achieving.  You may also consider looking into an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) if your employer offers one. Consult with a Carmichael bankruptcy lawyer.

Often, a parent or other family member may offer to bail you out but only if they are ready, willing, and able to help; can pay your debts without suffering financial hardship themselves; and can truly solve your problem and not just postpone an inevitable bankruptcy.  If you own assets that you would lose to a bankruptcy trustee, you may consider selling those assets to pay off your debts.  Even if it doesn’t pay off all your debts, it will lighten your debt load.  Remember to only sell nonexempt assets—those that a creditor can get.  Most states allow you to keep homesteads up to a specified value, pensions, basic household furnishings, and a modest vehicle.
